Help! Change VIN with HP Tuners. How do I get license so VIN will work
Just got HP Tuners in the mail today. And the first thing I'm doing is trying to change the VIN. Its a 99 WS6, but the computer is out of something else. Its showing 2002 camaro/firebird. It wont let me change the VIN because I dont have a license for a 99. What do I do? How do I get it?

What if I download a file for a 99 firebird, then try to upload it, then wont it ask me to register a 99? And after I register the 99 then wouldnt it work? Or could I pull the whole tune from the 02 ECU and transer it to the 99 tune?
Edit: I just downloaded a stock tune for a 99, and its asking me if I want to license it. I'm going to go ahead and spend the credits. I figure even if it doesnt work I need to buy the credits anyway then later maybe buy a 99 ecu or figure something out

Well I did it. After reading about 30 pages where everyone said it cant be done, it has been done. It costs all of my 8 credits, but thats ok. I needed the correct VIN for various reasons, plus now I have an excuse to not let anyone borrow my tuner. Its win win

@ Aknovaman - True, I did burn up $400 in credits, but this is the only vehicle I'll ever use it on. And if someone wants to borrow it they can pay for credits.
@ 2xLS1 - You're right. You cant do that. So, here is what I did
I used 2 credits to license the computer/VIN that was in my TA. I'm assuming the computer came out a truck because it was showing 6.0L, my guess would be same truck the block and everything came from.
Then I went on Hp Tuners site and downloaded a file for a stock 99 Firebird. Then when I tried to open it, I was asked to license that. I chose the 6 credit option to have a license for all 99 camaro/firebirds or whatever. I didnt read that far into it. I then loaded that tune.
So after that, I had a 99 VIN and OS in my ECU. Then just change VINs, upload that again, and your bam you're done. Unless you're like me, with a 408 LQ9, and because the OS's are different I had to open two windows and cut and paste everything from one to another. Obviously some maps and cells and options are different because of the different OS.
Did all that last night, then may or may not have went to renew my emissions inspection. Not saying I did but if I had, I passed with flying colors and the VIN in ECU was my VIN, which confirms that it does work.
