SES Light: P0171
My friend has a 2000 A4 Z28, and his SES came on so he got it scanned, and came up with P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
The car is mostly stock except for a lid and a loudmouth.
Any ideas what would cause this?

Being it is saying ONLY left side is lean,
look for a bad injector, disonnected wires to a injector, AIR check valve sticking open or the car is running so lean but left side is leaner then right and has hit the max LTFT allowed for that side.

yeh this is where efilive, autotap, vcm scanner do indeed come in handy.
being able to watch from a dead cold startup shows you a bit. I do have a lazy heater element, (bank 1) on a 60F morning will take about 30 seconds longer to read the same as B2, but after a minute or so both are reading the same PEAK and Trough MVolt #'s so i'm not sweating it.
Go find someone with a scan tool and check for things like cylinder balance test, misfire counts, etc. makes the guesswork That much easier.
