Default Maf code when it's brand new

I'm trying to get to a the underlying problem of my car running pig rich at start up and loading up while in stop and go traffic. The car needs tuned yes but I have to find the mechanical problem first. It is throwing the maf code say it is bad but it is brand new. What else can I troubleshoot and replace to solve this issue?

Thank for any help at all

First is, is this the -only- code? Things like Eng Sen fuse
will take out the MAF, the O2 sensors and some other
stuff all at once. Things like crusty ECT sensor connector
will give you intermittent pig-rich / unstable idle & cruise.

Maybe more info than "it hurts"?
