Default Advise on what to tune a conversion with

I am trying to make a decision on which route to go with my 1972 Nova. HP Tuners or Megasquirt. Driveability and reliability are the main goals.

Motor is a 28x LQ4 with T56. Cable drive Tbody.

I have a complete harness ECM from an 04 GTO with a T56. After making it a 'stand alone' harness would the HP Tuners VCM Suite be fine for removing VATS, Rear Os, EGR etc and tuning the car? Would the standard MPVI interface for $499 be sufficient. I am not interested in tuning other peoples cars.

Besides going with a wideband what else would i need?

Talking with DIY they reccomended the MS3X for $919 + wideband.

Thanks, Rich.

if you have the harness and everything to just plug and play then i would go with hptuners, removing vats, rear o's, egr, etc is a breeze and if you opt to put electric fans you can control it with the stock pcm. The hptuners is cheaper, there is already the stock file in the pcm to start with, and in most cases you have to build the ms3 box.
