Default idle dip

I have been having an issue with the idle on my wifes car for a while. It is a H/C car with a mid size cam. The issue is after cranking, it will settle at the commanded rpm (1000 cold, 800 warm) When you shift it into gear (R or D) it will dip 300-500 rpm. IF it doesn't die, it will steady back out. If you shift it back to neautral, it will do it again, and will repeat the dip each time you go from neautral to a gear and back
Everything else is perfect. Car idles great once it "settles" and runs awesome
I have played around (up/down) with idle airflow, idle timing, MAF table, etc and just cant figure this "shifting idle dip)
Any thoughts?

Thanks

I have played with the timing both up and down, and it has minimal effect. The problem happens when I move from neautal to gear, OR, from gear neautral. The confusing part is why it does it only for a couple of seconds everytime I move it then settles right back to the proper rpm.

Not likely the spark. Sounds more like idle air table needs raised.

Check base running airflow in park and in gear.

any chance the cpp or neutral safety isn't working correctly? The ecm may not know that you put it into P/N or gear...?
