Default Can fly by wire be removed from the PCM?

A few days ago I got a 2003 6.0l PCM/connectors for free and was hoping to have it control my 98 LS1 with a 4l80e transmission in my 68 Camaro. From what I've been told and read...it can...HOWEVER, the 2003 is fly by wire and my local tuner says they aren't sure if they can remove this feature from the PCM.

My 98 LS1 is obviously setup for a cable throttle body, which is what I want. Not that it matters, but the 4l80e is from a 99 2wd Chevy truck.

I emailed HP Tuners today and they basically told me they don't know if their software can do that because it is the tuners job to "custom" tune that feature out of the software.

Any thoughts?

It can be done, But you need to know if you have a PCM that supports drive by cable.

If it does, you can flash a Van calibration in it and modify it accordingly.

You will also have to rewire the 98 harness to match an 03 Van configuration.

This site will explain the ECU side of what to look for. http://lt1swap.com/cable_conversion.htm

Any specific van? I know the Astro only came with 4.3 and the Express had everything from 4.3, 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0??? I would assume a 6.0 flash and then tune accordingly since it's closest to the 5.7, or maybe I'm totally wrong?

And for wiring, I know the 98 harness is different from the 03 van pcm (when I find one), but mainly I just need to see what sensors are different or are in different location than the original van engine stuff, correct?
