thats the common buss for serial communications
commonly called a splice pack
just a junction for the serial data lines in the front of vehicle
you can separate the wires at the splice pack and see whats communicating and what isnt.

ok thank you, I put the data wire straight from the pcm to the dlc still got no communication... I will see where the rest of the wires go and what they do. and my old scanner only goes to 99 but it should do OBDII basic for just codes...mite have to use a diff scanner to see what it will do

I would check the power and ground to the DLC before breaking up the splice pack.

shouldnt have to "break it up" so to say
they connectors are pinned into the connector body and can be released.
just make sure they go back in the same spot

omg i'm a *** I wait out and rechecked it, I left the red lead in the 12v const port while I checked both grounds and the signal ports....ok I have 12v at the orange, both grounds checked out good and I got nothing from the purple, which is the way it's suppose to be. i.m going to have to get a new scanner and see if it will work

Hummm I think Ill slide a 99 cartridge in mine and see if it reads an 02 or 03
Ive upgraded to the last version of the black ones so Im good to 06.
and yes you should be able to do generic OBD2 so somethings off.
