Default HPP3 shifting question

I just recently installed 3.42 gears in my car, and with the hpp3 shift firmness set at 75% I hit the rev limit. Does that sound like something is wrong? What do I need to do sp that I don't hit the rev limit? Do I need to set the shifts by rpm? I have the stock internals. My mods are in my sig. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is your rev limiter still stock? You can raise it a little or use the hpp3 to lower your shift points. With the gear change I'd say you need to change your shift points.

As I recall, while running through the prompts you get to "shift point". It asks you if you have an aftermarket shift kit y/n?
than if no it asks what shift you want = 1-2 shift +/- 100 rpm, 200 rpm, etc
the same for shift 2-3 and 3-4
Lower them by setting the point to -100 rpm first and see if that works.
Personally I would raise the rev limit 100-200 rpm if you like where it's shifting.
I went to 3.73 and raised my 1-2 shift +200 rpm, 2-3 shift +100 rpm and 3-4 0 rpm
I raised the rev limit 300 rpm
Picked up 2 mph and lowered my e.t. at the track

http://www.horist.com/MPHCalc/MPHCalc.asp you can use to calculate how many RPM it takes to go 1 mph ... (the mph to RPM is slightly wrong for autos due to converter slip)

ratios are 3.0/1.6/1.0/.70 for an auto rear gear ratio will be 3.42 ... enter your tire specs and submit

HPP3 will ask you how many MPH you want to go up or down for a shift (i think it's -6 to +6) ... so what you can do is look at 3.23 gears and then your 3.42 gears in the above link, and look at red line, see how many MPH difference there is between the two in a particular gear ... I'd guess 1-2 shift needs to be lowered maybe 2 , 2-3 maybe 1 ... 3-4 prolly can be left alone

yeah - I think what I'm remembering was that I raised my point + 1mph and it shifted about 200 rpm later

Should I raise the rev limit eventhough I have all the stock internals?
