Default hp tuner guys

so I have a few questions for some of you hp tuner guys.

do some of yall use the pro version or the non pro version..

for the non pro versions do yall have wideband set up?
just the guage so you can read the afr ??

I know the pro has a spot on the side where you can connect wide band

im thinking about getting hp tuners an ive been looking at some info online.
im very good with computers and I think this is something I might like doing.

Save your money and buy HP tuners PRO.... much simpler to log your wideband of choice.. you can also use your interface to trigger nitrous, or datalog a number of things.. (not all at once though).

In the end it's what you want though. I'm just advising to get the PRO and only have to buy HP tuners once.. you know? The learning curve is not bad btw.

yeah the learning curve does not seem to be bad and I want to make the right decision. it would be a bit before I could get a wideband kit and there is not a whole huge price difference between the non pro and the pro versions...

I'd bite the bullet and get the HP tuner pro..

Widebands can be bought cheap... got my NGK wideband from Amazon for 275 I believe. Killer unit for the money. about to send it off to get the Lambda upgrade and increased voltage range

Other that being able to plug your WB directly in, what are the real differences in the two? I have the standard and log via AC switch. Just wondering if there are other benefits.

The Pro inputs can be used for other things. For example
I have a 2-axis accelerometer (and another 1-axis cobbled
from an old G-Tech) which I use for quantitative performance
feedback (you would like some idea whether the last tweak
helped or hurt, besides what you can feel through your
shorts) and I have a fuel pressure gauge with a Kavlico sender
and SW electric gauge to power it, which I also have plugged
in on occasion, just to see what fuel is doing at WOT.

No such thing as too much data logging ability. As long as
it's good data.

Back in the day the hot tip was to use the EGR or A/C
pressure connectors and read raw voltage and convert.
Now there are some capabilities that work directly from
"AFR error" and to use them you need to be logging a
proper AFR (custom PID I don't know, whether it could
be made to replace that or if it's too "hard coded").
Me, I don't like the concept, the data integrity or the
results I see other people getting, so I stick with doing
it the hard way. But that has nothing to do with the
value of getting more non-PCM-sourced data to tune
against. Just with the value (or not) of mystery statistics.

ive got a stall and car is not tuned at all specs in sig...
ive got a cam im going to get installed and wanted to try an tune it myself..
but people local are saying its a lot harder than its made out online..

im so busy with work right now someone is gonna install the cam for me for a small fee.. I would not mind having just the non pro edition for hp tuners. incase I got email tune say from pat g I could load it on my own with instructions.. i feel i could learn and make adjustments i don't wanan spend a whole lot of money and not like it. and then loose out

im not sure if i can find help enough online to do my own tuneing that needs to be done
for my mods and cam when it comes time..

The only difference between Pro and regular is the
inputs (4) and outputs (2) on the cable. They both
work the same as far as tune modification and PCM
direct logging.

Nobody should believe it's easy to get your car tuned
exactly how you want it, and more so the more fussy
you are about things. But each individual thing is within
your ability to fix, and you just have to plow the field
until the plowing is done. The question is more about
how much time you are willing to spend learning and
doing, and whether this looks like fun or hassle. Maybe
you want to pay the man for a couple of hours and call
whatever you get, "good enough". Maybe you want to
be the man, even if it sucks sometimes. Even if you
**** up and break ****. Is that a good hobby for you?
You have to figure that bit out for yourself.

I have the standard version and I've managed pretty well using it. If money is the issue then you have to do what fits your budget. I will say this though, TAKING THE TIME TO TUNE YOUR VE TABLES PROPERLY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU WILL EVER DO!!! I am simply amazed at how my results are so much more predictable now that I've done what everybody tried to tell me to do from day one!
