Default Can a 2002 M6 PCM be reflashed to use in a 1999 A4?

I just bought a 1999 t/a with A4.

I have a PCM from my last 2002 M6 t/a.

Can I send this 2002 M6 PCM off to a mail tuner and have it work in my 99 A4 t/a or do I need a different PCM?

Thanks.

Service # will be different but it will work just fine. You can flash any 99-02 F-body calibration into any 99-02 PCM if you write the entire operating system.

It can be flashed to work with no issues like the previous guys said. I flash alot of 99-01's over to a 2002 operating system anyways since its a better starting point and opens up a few more option with custom operating systems.

Would anyone care to elaborate on what is gained by flashing to the 02 operating system. Got my curiosity up. I personally have a 01. I plan on tuning in the near future myself. Hope I am not high jacking.

There are added tables in the 01-02 OS for fueling. once you start tuning, you will learn how to compare files and you will see the differences there.

So what your saying is 02 isn't necessarily better than 01 is but I will be able to answer my own question once get into the actual programs. Thanks for the reply.

The latest 2002 OS does give you a few more features over the latest 2001 OS, but it's much less difference than compared to 99 and 2000 OS's.

What about the VIN number?
Often times, or so I hear, a 99-00 VIN in an 02 OS causes a mismatch?
Many of us need to go through emissions test, the VIN needs to match the car.

If your using hp tuners and the vin year doesnt match the year of the OS you will get a VIN/OS mismatch error and can not access the pcm. You'll have use efi live or another tuning software that doesn't care about the VIN.
