need help replacing ecm
I want to replace the ecm in my 1998 corvette with a backup ecm I have
from a 1997 corvette both are licensed through hptuners. I will flash the custom tune I have on my 98 ecm on to the 97 ecm but what about the vin? Does that need to be changed? I switched them out but there was no power at the ob2 port? Could it be because the vin # does not match? Thanks

yeah I am trying to figure out why I get no reading at the ob2 port when I swap to the 97 ecm (could it be because the vin # does not match the car or the ecm is a dud?) car powers up fine with its original 98 ecm.
I can't believe I can't get an answer to this question not even on hptuners. I guess I have to throw more money at tuners

ok did a google search the 98 fbody has a different harness but the 97-98 corvettes use the same harness and ecu so that's not the problem for me. If
the different vin # does not matter and the ecu should power the ob2 port then something must be wrong with the 97 ecu. I think I will try a refurb ecu (cardone) from autozone cost around $150
