Default Not reading cranking RPMs with HP tuners..

Trying to start my car after the motor swap and I don't believe it's firing. I know I have fuel first of all. I hooked up HP and started scanning and it's not reading any cranking rpm. Now, if the computer is not seeing the motor turn over, doesn't that mean it isn't firing? Possible crank sensor issue? Went from factory LS to a aluminum 5.3 out of an 03 Envoy.. Please help, I'd love to hear this thing run!

I would start with the crank sensor and crank sensor wiring.

EDIT: did you check to make sure the engine has the same reluctor count?

I had read a thread and seen where it looked as though everything swapped fine. It's a factory 98 ls1 and was swapped to the 03 envoy 5.3.

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but where is it that the crank sensor is located at? Is it not on the back of the block under the intake?

Is it a 3 prong clip? I remember a male connector that was in the same loom as the starter hanging there but I thought it went to my passenger side hub for some reason. Seems like it had purple color on it for some reason.

I really hope that is it.

yes, 3 wire and the rubber on the wiring plug should be purple if someone hasn't altered it

it will not start without that signal and would also explain the lack of cranking RPM

Thanks a ton man. I know that clip is hanging there and I know it's purple. I really hope that's the fix to the problem. Now I've just got another 4 hours at work to sit and anticipate whether that's the fix or not. :/

Just an update, that was definitely the problem. Car started. Got some serious tuning ahead of me though. Car is extremely rich at idle (clouds of fuel coming out turbo), wants to idle around 1500-2k, and doesn't want to keep idle.

First time tuning, I've been reading books and watching video for the last 6 months. Still feel lost.
