Default Vats question...

So after reading a bit it looks like I can tune VATS out with ls1edit or hp tuners....

But my question is do I still need to install the resister for my specific ohm? Or this step is no longer necessary to start a '99 A4?

If you remove vats there's nothing left to look for the resistor.

There are 2 parts to the vats system in a fbody. Part 1 is in the pcm and can be turned off using tuning software. Part 2 is in the BCM and can not be turned off with tuning software. If the VATS in the BCM is your issue turning it off in the PCM will not fix it.

I don't have an issue with vats yet. Just was planning on tuning the car this year and figured I'd kill two birds with one stone....
