Default things needed for tuning

I was thinking of getting into tuning and was trying to map out everthing I would need. Ive been sending my PCMs out for tuning but looking at maybe a new hobby since my friends and I have a few LS converted vehicles.

Ive already purchased the setup to power up the ECMs on the bench top for out the car tuning. What other hardware would I need? What softwares would I need?

Dont take this the wrong way but if you dont know what you need for your tuning your along way from being able to start tuning.
You'll need at minimum:

Bench harnesses for all the ecm's you want to flash, each ecm model takes a different harness.
EFI Live, HP Tuners, or Tunercats (most common )
Laptop or computer

And lets not forget, a WIDEBAND!!!Without a wideband, you may as well just punch numbers in and guess.

The best deal for a wideband is no longer available. NGK stopped selling them. If your looking to charge for a tune, IMO, you should buy a lab quality wideband, and they are 1k plus.

Ballenger Motorsports sells the old NGK unit with the NTK sensors... actually three levels of the sensor (including mid-grade and lab grade). And they sell it with either a 13-foot or 7-foot cable. It's what I bought. It works well.

The Ballenger one has electronics made by some other company now. They are not as precise as they were when sold by NGK. I am sure they are ok, they are just not the same quality, no matter what Ballenger says.
