Sorry all- all the threads I can find are a number of years old.

Curious if there has been a fix yet to get lean cruise to work on an LS1 vehicle? Specifically a 2002 LS1 Camaro.

I know we have the tables, but all I have read is how they are "hard coded" disabled as they were deemed illegal.

However, all those posts and such were before the last Hp tuners update that happened a while back...curious if we can finally access this function or not now and what can be done via hp tuners to access if it isn't "ready accessible"

It can be enabled easily with a tuner other than HP Tuners.

I don't suppose there is a process in which I can send over a current tune- have someone edit that, send me back the file and I can write it back in with hp tuners and have it work?

The only way I know how to do true lean cruise on a 2002 camaro is using the efi live and a custom operating system. Unfortunately if you use an efi live cos it locks out hpt. Lean cruise takes a lot of data logging and tuning to make any difference.

I can do it with TunerCat OBD2 but I need to have the PCM. You would still be able to use HP Tuners on it. I could do it with just the HP Tuners file but it would have to be read with their V2.22 software. And lean cruise works pretty good just populating the tables with data that a Holden vehicle with Lean Cruise enabled uses. I run it on my 04 Silverado.

My WS6 is tuned with lean cruise. Helps a lot with gas mileage just putting around.

OLSD tune done by a local guy. Not sure how he did it, but that's how it's setup.

OLSD is not lean cruise. He may have tuned it leaner than 14.6 but its not the same as lean cruise like we are talking about.

I just thought you guys were talking about setting up the air/fuel commands how you want them at different rpm ranges. Didn't know there was a specific name for it.

No there is a specific lean cruise table that is illegal in the usa- dont know if it is legal or not in Canada or if we slip through that crack or not.

I suppose I could backdoor it, but it would be much easier to use the tables given...

LC can be done using EFILive but requires a cax (calibration extension) to define the location of the LC enable... LC cax is only available for a handfull of OS id's (so if your OS has no cax and you really want LC you may needs to flash in OS 12212156 which has the LC cax defined)...

when you have the cax, you enable LC and do a full flash, then populate the LC tables and do a cal flash.

( a COS is not really needed )

so is there anyway to get a hold of that file and just flash in the extension file with hp tuners?

You can not enable Lean Cruise with HP Tuners. No how no way. I have to flash a spare PCM with a HP Tuners file, read it with TC OBD2, enable Lean Cruise, flash that back to the PCM then read it with HP Tuners and save that file.

ok flip question...can I order a PCM from a Aussie ls1- have it bolt up to the Camaro...change the VIN to match my vin without losing the OS and have the tables enabled that way?

Or better yet, take a tune from an Aussie vehicle in the tune repository and flash that into my pcm, then change the vin to match my vin?

Nope, EFILive only, and only for some OS's (and most of those OS's can be changed to 12212156 if need be).

COS = custom operating system = in EFILive this is a GM OS that has been modified to add some features (like MAP x RPM OLFA table, HO/LO adaptive spark in SD, Boost VE/Spark tables, alpha-N VE table, OLFA temperature correction, nitrous/valet modes).

Not likely any of that would work. So much easier just to enable it with TC. The long process I stated above was to get LC in a HPT format. With the PCM I just read it, enable it, and flash it with TC.
And honestly I doubt you see even 1/2 mpg in fuel economy with it enabled. Running it on my truck sees very little difference.

alright- new questions on actually tuning lean cruise.

the tab under COT, Lean cruise > EQ Ratio Subtractor > vs. RPM vs Cyl Air

I need clarification- hp tuners description here states this value is how much fuel is subtracted from the closed loop fuel/air ratio to lean the mixture. EG. if the value is 0.1 and the current F/A Ratio is 1.0 then the resulting Fuel / Air multiplier is 0.9 or 14.7/0.9 - 16.33 AFR

Can someone explain that a little clearer to me? I am not sure what it means if the current F/A ratio is 1? what is that 1?

For PE you take the enrichment factor and divide it by stoich (the 14.7) and you get your new commanded value...but for this it appears there is two numbers for calculations? 0.1 and 1 in the example?

I'm confused.
