Default holley dominator efi in a cobalt?!

just looking for a little feedback on this.
Trans am is still a few months away from getting on the road, probably at least spring/summer 2016.
just threw a built/sleeved motor in my cobalt (semi beater/daily with the wrx) and another turbo swap, s256 with some nitrous
sick of fighting with the stock pcm, as hp tuners hasn't finished should I say unlocking it. only have about 1/3 to 1/2 the tables needed to dial it in right.
now I have this domintor efi laying around being lazy and was contemplating swapping it between vehicles.

few questions:

will it work with the DBW (same harness and wire config as the ls4/trailblazer throttle bodies, just slightly smaller at 62mm)
going to try and have it just control the engine side of things so I can fake the bcm into working (a/c locks, dash etc)
and will it work with the coil on plug ignition setup (have to check tooth count of the crank wheel)
figure I can just swap the ecu between cars, change tune and be on my way

now the motor is an lsj, so I guess it counts under the ls family of engines lol.

the car as it sits now

and anyone ever see a fuel pump do this before?

Shouldn't be too hard to figure out if the dominator will run your lsj. Go look up the specs.

I have an 06 SS supercharged slowbalt. Bought it new. Has the gm stage 2 kit.

I read the file with HPT and noted that a lot seemed to be missing. Too bad. With their foray into Dodge tuning, I bet they will never update any of the lsj stuff.

Just curious though if you have emailed support and asked?

been emailing support for 8 years lol. had this thing up over 600hp at one point back in 08 before I toasted a sleeve. shooting for 650+whp in it with this motor and some nitrous.
bought this car back in 06 with 4.6 miles on it. now up to 193000 lol and this is probably the 20th different build on the car.

as for the dominator, it should. just going to have to manually do the throttle tables, or switch to an ls4 throttle body which is definitely supported in the dbw tables.

I have no doubt it will run the motor, key is tieing in the bcm and keeping the rest of the car working.
already wiring the trans am from head lights to tail lights to work with the dominator and no bcm, don't want to have to do that with this car too as it's sorta a daily driver.

not a fan of that whole tie in setup. wished they kept it old school lol.

but going to try it as a piggy back setup just controlling the engine, meth, nitrous and boost.
should be an interesting winter project.

been a 9 yr project with the cobalt just about lol. always changing setups on it. it's been a great daily driver though, tons of fun in the twisty's and for high way pulls

I've never messed with mine beyond the stage kit and I have logged it with HPT.
The IC coolant is disappearing, I assume into the intake. And I caught the IC pump not running once, whacked it with a hammer.

600 whp would be a hoot! But I have a car for that. Turbo 5.3 Nova that runs mid nines.

I have a car for that too lol 98 trans am that should hopefully go 8's if I ever get to finish putting it together lol.
and keep an eye on that pump, they go pretty frequently.
as for the coolant loss, check the o-rings on the intake manifold end cap. had one go on mine and hydrolocked the motor.

I better get on those O-rings then. Before winter sets in. Or before I hydrolock it!
Thanks!

no prob, not a horrible fix, but you do need to pull the intake mani. just of note if you haven't done it yet, there is a 15mm bolt behind the manifold that connects it to the intercooler pump bracket. long extension and moving the alternator makes it a lot less of a headache

but got the car out again this weekend. need to change fuel pressure down to 43psi apparently the 160lber's I'm running now don't like to idle at 58psi.

probably hold off installing the nitrous and meth until I get the dominator in, then I'll just control it with that

I'm in no rush. I rarely drive it in the summer. I'll check sources as well. Thanks man.

got the ol cobalt out on the dyno yesterday. 563whp 456wtq with the clutch slipping at 6400 rpm (motor runs to 8200) and only 31.5 psi (normally run 36) shooting for 600 in a few weeks once I change the plugs and see if I can get the clutch to hold again

still on the stock pcm for now

Damn thats impressive! I have always liked little pocket rockets. I had a Eagle Talon TSI AWD with some work, and previous to that a little Dodge Shelby, but neither made that much power. How much power will those front shafts support stock? I was always buying/breaking those.

it's definitely makes for an enjoyable daily driver. and those awd cars can be made into little monsters with not too much work.
front halfshafts barely keep up with stock, these are actually just el cheapo napa rebuilt axles in the car and so far haven't broken one yet (in 8+yrs)
haven't had it at the strip yet with this setup, so doubt it will make more then a pass or 2 without snapping an axle.

not yet, still on the stock ecu for now.
scrambling to finish putting the ta together first before I start messing with this thing again.

ordered an ls2 harness to cut up (holley) so once I get my hands on a spare cobalt engine harness I'll start to make them work
