Default Using HPTuners Repository Tune

I added a few upgrades to the LQ4 in my Chevelle and I'm wondering if I can use a repository tune to roughly dial in my engine. I've already changed the tune for the manual transmission, removed the rear O2 sensors, and updated the injector data. I found a file on the repository from an LS1 with similar parts and I'm wondering if other data can be safely copied from the file.

Here are the details of my LQ4:
799 heads
EPS cam 230/234 .629/.629 112+2
LS6 intake and injectors
Long tube headers
LS7 clutch

I have a couple logs of the engine idling but I think the pump was picking up old gas so I don't know how helpful it would be. I can upload them if they would help. Thanks!

You could try it. Cover the basics for your car on your own then copy the VE from theirs and see how it goes. If you have mechanical issues like bad gas you need to address that first.

So the VE should be close even with the different displacements? It's picking up fresh gas now so that shouldn't be an issue.

I attached one of the short idle logs. I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for but it seems like there's a lot of ignition advance when the engine speed increases.

It should get you close but you will still have to tweak VE. Look for the Russ K idle config and get your base running airflow dialed in. You also need to get your iac counts dialed in at hot idle.

I took the Chevelle for a real quick test drive and the engine did not want to rev past 2200 rpm or so while driving. What would be the cause for this?

The log from the drive is attached if that will help. The thing that jumps out to me is the timing advance. It seems to jump between 0 and 30 degrees without reason.

Something is pulling timing. I also noticed the throttle never went above 24%. Not sure if you went above that while driving.

I didn't want to floor it since I don't have a way to measure the AFR. It seems to hit a point where it doesn't respond to more throttle. I attached the tune but it's in version 2.25 so I'm not sure if anyone will be able to look at it.

two things that stand out to me on your test drive is your tps is at 18% is that with you on the pedal or not. Your tps should be no higher than 3% at idle in park. second you need to add your iac counts so we can see if your in the right range. That has alot to do with why your tps is off.

i looked at the test drive again and you have some things to work out before you drive it , TPS, IAC counts and waiting for car to get to at least 190f before you start anything.

Is this a drive by wire combo? I don't have my pc here to look at the file in HPT.
