Help tuning 5.3 with hptuners
Hey all, weas wondering if i could get some tips before i start tuning. I have been getting some rough fuel mileage, in the low13s to be exact coming from 18-20 a few years ago.
heres my first run that i logged with a new maf, i got alot of "replace the MAF" comments in another forum. so i finally did and i dont feel it helped. ill let you be the judge.
But im looking to tune a bit to see if i can get some more low end power for towing a 4000 lbs camper that my truck does not seem to be able to tow very well.

The only issue that I see off the bat is your fuel trims are fairly high. Do some data logging and adjust your MAF table to reduce the fuel trims. You can add several degrees of timing in the cruise and acceleration areas to stock truck tunes to pick up a little response / power. Reduce torque management to make your shifts a little more firm and crisp. Just don't have too high expectations for increasing power and economy on a stock vehicle.

Also where would u start to add some timing at? I have very little take off at low end, I feel I'm driving a diesel without a turbo sometimes.

I'll give it a shot, I w as my sure if LS1 timing would be close. 5.3 vs 5.7, being one is made for torque one for horsepower. I'll check it out.

Your PCM is trying to add fuel. I would think you either have a vacuum leak or low fuel pressure. Since the pcm is adding fuel your MPG went down. If i was to guess i would say you have a vacuum leak.
