Default Upgrade my EFIlive V1?

Trying to decide if I should upgrade me V1 to the V2 or get HPtuners? It looks like with HPT you have to use credits to run a custom operating system. I am going boosted to I will most likely need one. The place that I will take it to get it tuned if I can't get it dialed in uses HPT like most places. If they put a COS in it with HPT, will it lock the PCM so I can't get into it with EFIlive?

COS have been free with HPT for quite some tome now. Generally COS by one brand can't be read by the other brand.

I'll keep that in mind Monte. First time I had mine tuned, I had an 02 operating system in my 00 and he couldn't do anything until I put the stock tune back in it. So I'm sure if they put a COS in it, I'll be SOL trying to use efilive on it.

If they put the 00 VIN in the 02 OS, that would be a VIN/OS mismatch, not a COS and it breaks the way HPT did their licensing. They've changed some things and that would be allowed now. HPT won't allow creating the mismatch, but it can license mismatches if they were created by other tuners.

I'd say your correct about the COS 2xLS1, I called the place I'm thinking of having tune it and he didn't think efi wouldn't work after they tuned it with hpt. I knew changing the operating systems wasn't a COS, but figured if it didn't like that, it wouldn't like a different COS in it.

Does anyone sell HP Tuners for less than retail? It's the same price everywhere you look.

We all sell it for the same price, you should never see it listed at a different price. The only difference you'll find is some places offer packages with widebands or tunes. We sell HPT with email tunes as a package to save you some money.

I've seen 2-3 places say that they won't be undersold on HPT, and they all have it listed at the normal price. It must be the package deal they won't be undersold on. I got it from Amazon, and got 80 dollars off when I applied for their credit card. That was the best deal I could find on HPT.
