New 408 build shutting off at 6k
I put a 408 in my 1998 Trans Am. It ran great did some sick street pulls with it. I had the adaptives close enough to be safe. Dropped it off to be tuned and the tuner just called me and said no matter what he does on the dyno the car shuts off at about 6000rpm. I'm hoping for a bad crank sensor but idk.

It could be a number of things but I did read a few threads where the reluctor wheel was bad and/or the crank run out was too far out of spec causing the crank sensor to not read the wheel any longer. People complained of their car shutting off when this happened. If all else fails, you might want to pull the motor and inspect the reluctor wheel and crank run out.

^^ what 455 said pretty much...too much endplay more than likely. could be a result of balloning converter, the reluctor wheel moves just enough so that the crank doesnt pick it up and cuts all function i.e. fuel and spark

I'll have to give the reluctor wheel a good look. It's a forged crank with a yank convertor so I don't think those are problems. I've had this convertor for a few years. The crank is new from TSP and my engine builder is top notch so the wheel seems to be the most likely place to look.
