Default New to Tuning - HP Tuners

I recently purchased HP Tuners Pro because I was tired of sending my ECM off to have someone else tell me what they did to help in my LS swap. I have an ECM that I want to put a 2007 CTS-V base tune and then perform mods. I know base tune will require a "write entire" to get the new OS on the ECM. I also see that the CTS-V requires a write entire to disable VATS. Should I edit the tune and disable VATS first before the write or perform 2 "write entire" functions? Asking because I saw in HP Tuners notes where it says to try and limit that due to the possibility of bricking ECM. I would leave all the DTC's live until I have it running to help with troubleshooting.

Depending on what you are changing, a "write entire" may never be necessary.

Open the new tune in editor. Disable VATS and write entire uploading the new OS in the process. Update the VIN too.

To disable the VATS you have to do a "write entire" for the that OS.

I screwed up and didn't change the VIN. I had a VIN/OS mismatch and had to relicense the ECM. Expensive mistake... Its writable now....
