Default any problems moothing timing tables on c5?

i was looking at my timing tables, in particular .69-.73 g/sec where my car usually is WOT and i see my timing goes from 28 all the way from 2400-4400rpms then drops to 26 for 4800 rpms, then back to 28 5200-8000. This makes absolutely no sense and there are a few g/sec tables where they drop for a cell or so for no particular reason.

Would there be any harm in just adding timing in certain cells until I see knock retard? Can too much timing really be a bad thing w/o detonation? Timing=HP right? I have headers, vararam and gears as my only mods.

Thanks
Dave
