Default Stock Tach RPM doesnt match ATAP?

I noticed when I ATAP my car that my factory Tach doesnt match what autotap is saying. For example at idle my stock tach says 1400 rpms but on ATAP it says 1000 to 1100 rpms. Which one is correct? I would assume ATAP would be the correct one. What would cause it to be that far off? Car is a A4.

Default

The 98 tachs were very inaccurate. The ATAP indicated is correct. 99+ were better, but were still slow to respond.
