Default easiest (cheapest) way to scan / clear codes

I have an trans code that I'm chasing but I want a tool to read other codes that may come up and also clear them. What's the cheapest tool to do this?

a simple actron scanner would work, about $140 or so, they're might be cheaper options.

I bought a used predator for that function, cost $40 off this board. They don't sell that cheap anymore, as now they can be put back to stock, and reset by diablo for a $75 fee, so its hard to find them cheap anymore.

I went to the cheap parts store and bought I think an Actron for $100 on sale
hand held, plug in, turn on key, read, clear. that simple. You just need data to elaborate on what the code really was caused/how to fix.

Go to Autozone. They'll scan it and clear it to.

They will scan and clear at AUTOZONE, however you might have to tell them that you had a SES light, that went out. They wouldn't do mine until I told them I had a light come one (which was a lie). They are in the parts selling business, don't blame them too much.

get a $40 scanner from

www.harborfreight.com

i have this and it works. it's also small enough to keep in the glove compartment forever and not having to fire up the laptop, etc.
