laptop for HPTuners
I don't really know too much about computers. What kind of laptop do I need for the HPTuners. How much? Can I get a decent one from ebay?

as normal, faster is better.
I run a P150 machine, its about the slowest you can run the software on, but it does do the job.
I would buy something 300mhz or above, 64+ mb ram, and at least 2 gb harddrive.
prefered, something way faster, more ram, and larger harddrive, but cost can be an issue.

I use a Toshiba Tecra 8100 built in 1999. It has a PIII 600mhz CPU, 256 megs RAM, 10gig hard drive, DVD/CDROM with Serial & USB ports.
This model works like a dream with my HPTuners software. It's plenty modern for everyday use (I've even watched DVD movies on it) but old enough to still incorporate Serial ports next to the USB/IR port.
Can't give you a price 'cuz it was given to me last year by the company I was doing a job for. Their IT dept. said it was too old for them to want to continue supporting, so I can't see one costing too much at some of those used computer places. Maybe do a internet search on "used computers". Good luck.

Also try www.bobjohnson.com . He has a ton of used laptops for really cheap. Tell him Tracy sent you and he will hook you up. I traded my old laptop to him for a PIII 750 mhz that kicks butt with the software. Now it only takes 24 secs. to flash the PCM.

HP Tuners will work with tons of laptops but I'd personally run a minimum of 64MB RAM, 300mhz or faster, and a REAL serial port...
Should be able to get something like that for sub 200 now
