Default Free Beta LS1 Scan software from carputing

I was shocked to see on the carputing page that they just released a beta version of scanning software free for all LS1 Edit owners. I just bought EFI Live, but don't have it yet, so I'll give this a shot. Anyone have any opinions on it yet? Looks like carputing is going to give HP tuners a run! The competition is getting hot sine EFI live V7 is supposed to be able to tune as well...

The scanner carputing is putting out is nowhere near robust as Efilive or Hptuners. The scanner is just to keep customers who have a product with no resale value happy

I agree but I will have to say that I'm not unhappy with edit. They offered tuning for my car when no one else did and it does everything I need it to do. I'd like to try HPTuners some day but for now edit works just fine for me. If edit wanted to add a feature to compete they should think about the recovery feature HPtuners has. That's an awesome feature in my book. The speed of HPtuners would be nice to have also but if it works a couple extra minutes here and there won't make or break me.

Speed, recovery looks feel and overall usability is what HPTners will have and contnue to have over edit. Next we wait for the EFILive package

From the look of things, HPTuners may have their
wideband-support (analog input) version out
before EFILive has Flashscan delivered. Nothing
like a little healthy competition...

Sweeeeet! It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to know Carputing hasn't forgotten about us poor Edit users. I've used the new HP Tuners software and it's nice. I'm glad to see something new for Edit. I'm downloading the beta now!

Carputing is only coughing up a basic scanner because they're forced to if they want to retain any customers or get any new ones.

all I have to say is ... wow! this is crap! .... autotap is 2 steps above this... hp tuners is 10 steps above this... they (carputing) shoulda waited till it was... well.. useful before releasing heh

I agree. I downloaded it a few days ago and am not impressed with it at all. They are going to release another beta version and it will have a LTFT analysis feature. They need to do a lot more if they want to stay in competition IMO.

Its pretty buggy right now that's for sure. Kept crashing on me. The interface pretty well sucks too compared to EFI Live and AutoTap, but at least I can scan and tune (eventually) w/o switching cables back and forth. Hopefully they'll spice it up a bunch before it's final release.

On the mailing list ken informed users that he wouldnt program too much of a graphical interface not much more than what is allready available. Functionality vs. Fancy UI

True. A simple tabular interface is fine with me I guess as long as it has fast logging capability. Still better than NO scanner at all.

Anyone had any luck getting the carputing scanner software to save or open in a format that excel can use? there is a button for it on the gu, but I get an error everytime I try it. The only way I can look through the info is in their "replay mode" and if I logged about 20 minutes of driving to get some good numbers and I want to be able to find certain events I am basically stuck to sitting there watching the whole file

It popped right up for me and works fine. I am using Office 2003 Version. That is one feature I really like! I hope you can get it to work!
