Default Bring idle down

not sure where to post this but is there a way to lower the idle without getting a tune?? i know if i turn the a/c on it idles lower but i dont exactly want to run around with the a/c on all the time. my car idles at like 1100-1200rpms, seems kinda high to me.

1100-1200 is definetly high.. check around for a vacuum leak after the MAF ... sounds like unmetered air is entering thus raising the idle... either that or if you ever had a tune w/that 224 they site the idle high....

But either way... only right way of doing it is with a tune.. but i'd investigate why the idle is so high before getting a tune...

If idle drops w/ A/C on then it's not under IAC
control I expect - either a vacuum leak, or maybe
somebody went and drilled the throttle blade, etc.

You could always try backing off your throttle screw. When I was trying to bring my IAC counts down i adjusted the screw too far and the car idled over 1000 rpms because i guess i crossed the idle throttle position threshold. It was even in cell 22 instead of cell 20.

thats what i was looking for, how you do this? do i remove the iac and then theres a screw under there or something? not seeing anything anywhere on the tbody to adjust.

It's what the throttle cam rests against when the throttle's closed all the way.

Idle stop screw is an upside-down Allen head
on the bottom of the TB casting stop boss.

is that what a scanner says its idling at? It may sound like a dumb question but my stock tach is off by 300rpms at idle. If it says im idling steady at 1150-1200 hptuners is saying im at 950...the reason i say this is the stock settings for an m6 command i think 800rpm idles once your warmed up so if your tach is off like mine it might be correct

yup thats very possible, doesnt mean i still dont want it to idle lower, with the a/c on it idles at 1100rpms on my tach and just sounds but with it off it idles 1200 and i loose a lot of the lope.

I wouldnt trust the dash guage either. Since you said that it has always idled that high I would check to see if the throttle body blade has been drilled. Then I would check to see if the screws on your intake are loose. I would also check the throttle body screw (turn to left). Last I would check for a leak between the intake and the mass air flow. A tune will not fix any of these things by the way....

theres no leaks and everything is tight, i tripple checked everything after the intake install. idle is the same it always was. i havent had a chance to check the stop screw since i was installing my torq arm mount all last night what a pain in the butt!!
