Default how to turn off air bag light with tech 2

ok buddy at work that doesnt use the tech 2 besides for diagnostics can turn off my air bag light but it comes back on when i turn off the car and restart. what has to be done to get the light to turn off? can someone explain. he was gonna try and ask at work tomorrow about it. car was wrecked and the body shop is making me mad so i wanna get this done cause im sick of the light. and i dont knwo what else it could do

Did they replace the SRS controller after the accident? Did you friend pull a code out for the SRS system? It's turning the light on there's a problem & likely a code....

code is something like b1001 i think. they replaced the seat belts, air bags, and im pretty sure the little sensor in the console. what else needs to be replaced? he cleared the code and it came right back up. im not sure about the b part but im almost positive about the 1001

That is a check sum error code/class 2 data stream missing.
You likely need to replace the module & reprogam it with the Tech-II.
It has to be programmed or it is useless, & will kick out this code......

how would i go about reprograming it. as far as i know everything has been replaced for the air bags.

You have to get the info & down load the info/vin etc & put in Tech-II. Then you have to program the module. Does your "friend" work at a dealer? Your gonna need the GM support to make this fly......

yeah he works there, i was just tryin to get it done on the side after hours, but i guess ill let them have it and they can charge the body shop for it.
