Default What Will A Tune Do For My 2k2 Ws6?

How and where do you go to tune your car??

I keep on hearing that bolt are no that necessary on my 2002 ls1 ws6. I currently have a ls6 intake, loud mouth exahaust, slp air lid, k&n air filter and a strut tower brace. I must admit after these simple mods I can feel the difference.
I keep on hearing from some really smart mechanics that a tune is the best bang for the buck and that I can increase 20 to 40 horsepower and quarter mile time.
Do I purchase the "Power Programmer for $349.00 or do I go to some place and dyno tune for $300 ??
Is it worth getting a maf sensor and ported throttle body before I get a tune or should I just tune??

Thanks

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could respond

Sincerely

Robert

i'm hoping you didn't buy the LS6 intake manifold? cause your car came with it...

You'll almost always gain more w/a dyno tune than a canned program... but I really don't think it's worth the money on a stock car like yours... i'd wait until you start putting more stuff on the car (at least headers) before getting a tune

I think that if you planned on doing your own tuning, you could certainly benefit from a tune right now, or if you don't plan on doing any other mods (but how likely is that). I'm sure your LTFTs could use adjustment as well as PE/WOT fueling, as well as other stuff like fan temps and code deletions. As horist said, I'd wait until you do more more mods before getting a tune, or tuning it right now if you plan on getting Edit or HP tuners. As far as the canned tunes, save your money for further down the road.

Like they said, with your mods.....although if you have an A4 you could get some bang for the buck. That way you could set your shift points & rev limiter higher. But with an M6, eh....I'd wait. Note that Predators come with a moderate performance tune loaded into them. They increase your timing & mess with the a/f so you will see some gains. I doubt it's 20, but I could feel the difference on my car, but it IS an A4.

Once you add headers or a cam, you will need a tune!

using the VHP tuner i gained .2 and 1.4 mph in the 1/4 mile. all i have is a SLP airlid and electric cutout.

all stock + cutout open
60ft - 2.073
1/8 - 8.833 @ 82.55
1/4 - 13.636 @ 101.58

above + performance/stock cam program,+10% timing, shift firmness, shift enhancement
60ft - 2.041
1/8 - 8.697 @ 83.51
1/4 - 13.431 @ 102.90

i tried others like the stock cam/supercharged and the CAM #1 just for giggles. i gained a .1et/.5mph over stock from the CAM #1. for the supercharged one .05et/.3mph. remember the only thing i have added are the SLP airlid and cutout
