Default Compatability Q: HP Tuners & Westers

I'm considering buying some tuning and scanning software, but already have a Westers PCM, and just wondered whether or not the HP Tuners software would let me read and edit the Westers PCM (especially concerned about tire/gearing changes), or if I'll have to switch back to my stock PCM?

Also, if I do have to go back to stock, could I read the Westers program and then flash it to the stock PCM?

BTW, the vehicle is a 2001 Silverado 4.8l

Thanks for the help,
Kipp

call up Westers and ask them if they lock their PCMs ... if they lock them then you probably won't be able to modify it w/out having them restore to stock... but if they don't lock them you shouldn't have a problem

But read it first... just to see what's worth keeping.

Maybe I should have asked if anyone knows whether Westers locks his PCMs, then. Anyone know?
