Default LS1 EDIT & HP TUNERS

Why are the prices so high? $400 for either one that is what I gathered off of their website? and you can only use the ls1 edit for one car? or is it one year of car? Is there any other "cheaper" programs that do the same things?

If you think their prices are too high, whip out your C compiler and write your own PCM edit/flash software.

Assuming you're a decent programmer, I'd figure about 1/2 way thru the project you'd realize you're getting a pretty good deal at their prices.

Hell, at 50 bucks an hour plumber's rates you wouldn't
probably be past the splash screen and first cut at the
menus, forget the actual machinery behind them.

Why does a dog lick himself?

LS1-Edit is one car and further, only one PCM for that
car - no spares. HPTuners is one body platform * year
(like Camaros and Firebirds 2002 is what I have).

Kind of like the saying, you don't pay a ***** to have
sex with you, you pay her to leave afterward? Same
with software. It's worth paying the pros, to know it
ain't gonna get ugly at the end (though, ask about
fried PCMs around here and you'll get many tales of
woe despite paying good money to one brand). But
have you seen the state of the free stuff? Hollow
development pages, pretty much, last I looked.

That's cheaper, but it is well short on capability
even if you get remote custom tunes (which, I'm
inclined to think, $319 gets you no such support).

I know Keith from HP Tuners personally, and believe me this guy works his *** off. He is always working till the wee hours of the morning on HP Tuners stuff. He has to work like 16-18 hours every day. Whenever I talk to him he's almost always like "I'm busy. HP Tuners stuff." Poor guy almost never gets a chance to relax. He's a great guy too and definitely knows his stuff. So, IMHO, it is worth it for the amount of work he puts into it.

Yes I agree. HPTuners is well worth the money. The customer service is top notch!
