Default will a PCM from a '01 '02 vehicle work in a 99?

alright....I have a 99 Z28, now I'm thinking of getting a '02 computer from xxx so I don't have to worry bout smog picking up that I have no EGR....or can I just turn it off with maybe a hand held tuner or custom tune from xxx????

keep in mind I have to pass emissions.....in California!!

had to remove the links...

an 01 or 02 PCM will be direct plug and play in a stock 99 car ...
what kinda mods do you have?

Is CA a state that uses a sniffer or a state that uses the OBDII info?

It should work real nice with the newer model pcm since they. Why don't you just have your stock computer reflashed with a later model vin number. The computer will not know the difference. They cannot tell other than comparing the vin stored in the computer to the vin tag on the windshield. It will also have later flash calibrations with the newer vin. Next option is just get out of Cali as fast as possible. I like inspections around here no air no smog no cats who cares. This is also in BFE south texas though. They will not pass stuff like that around college station though, fairly tuff. Good luck with mods

yeah I'm really not sure....a friend told me a newer PCM will NOT work....long story I got the LS6 manifold because the stock one had to come off anyways...so I have no EGR....so I just want to be able to delete EGR and still pass smog, another friend told me it won't pass with just a 99 computer with EGR deleted....I dunno, I need help!!! haha

Damn... most likely would not work then... a newer PCM 01/02 is going to be configured for 28lb injectors, amongst other things ...
