Default Chevy Racing Street Rod Computer???????

I got this computer off ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33596

It had the correct service number needed to run on my Painless Wire Harness for my LS1 into First Gen Camaro conversion.

Does anybody know where I can get more info on the basic programming that is in this unit?

Take it to a GM Parts Counter and have them look it up. You will need to know what year the "VIN" is too if you buy editing software.

Same calibration as a 1998 Camaro with an A4 trans. If you need more detailed info, just ask

Okay. So, if I hook this up to my 69 Camaro with a basically stock LS1, it should have sufficient programming to get it running and work out the mechanical bugs before fine tuning??????

I am running a Ford 9" with 3.5 rear gears. Does it have to be programmed for the 3.5" gear?

yes, it will fire and run well with a stock or near stock motor. if you're using a 4L60e transmission, and/or using a 1998 gauge cluster in your conversion you'll want to program the computer for the gear ratio. If not, it isn't a big deal at all. The pcm will still need a speed sensor input to determine whether the car is idling or cruising.

Oh duh, I forgot about VATS Either get it programmed, or use one of the little 555 timer "VATS bypass" modules .. either way will work ...

My Painless harness has a VATS disable built in, so I should be cool there.

What I thought was weird about this computer is it says Chevrolet RACING on the sticker, and Street Rod, etc. It also says Auto trans on the sticker.

That is super great news that I can "plug-n-play" once I get it all hooked up.

I will be running Autometer Gauges aftermarket gauges.

The only thing that bites now, is my motor is a 2000 model. Per the painless wiring instructions, I have to down grade to 1998 sensors. I think most are the same, but I already see at least the ECT is different.

vats is in the computer also, the bcm does most of the work, the pcm wont turn on fuel and spark unless the bcm tells it too, or the pcm has the vats turned off,
