40 Degree of Timing on Predator tune?
I've been watching the real time data on this predator and my Spark timing seems on the high side. It spends a lot of time around the 40 Degree mark. I was seeing up to 2.9 KR when I would get on it in 1st/2nd gear. I've gone in and set the spark as low as it would allow me too and I'm still seeing a lot of 40 deg timing, but somewhat less of KR. It’s been more like 0.9-1.2 KR (maybe higher hard to read and drive at same time) after I dropped the spark to low as it allows and bumped up the Power Enrichment to like +3%. Is that too much Timing for my car? Is .9-1.2 KR too much? Would more PE help the KR? Thanks for your help!

What is the WOT timing at 5000rpm in 3rd gear? Mine runs best around 27.5*. It can be up around 40 at certain throttle poisitions, or as low as 15 at idle. When you first go WOT you can see some KR. A blip is OK, sustained is not. What you are doing is the proper way to correct it, IF you actually need to.

no way you'd be able to run 40 at wot on street gas man. 40 at cruise levels (barely any TPS) is not bad, and usually helps with surging/mpg etc. If you are getting some tip-in knock then you might need to address those tables. Make sure its not something silly like LT's rapping against the floorboard/kmember.

I have 40-41 over most of the light throttle, mid-upper RPM.
It's the mid-high MAP region where you have to roll back
timing. Unfortunately Predator only applies blanket scaling.

Hmmm. My LT's do hit the bottom of the car when I'm getting on it maybe that has something to do with the KR. However i'm pretty sure i'm 40+ at WOT and I've already turned the timing all the way down in the predator. I'll get a friend to ride with me and watch the live data on the predator and see what timing i'm getting WOT. Thanks for all the feed back.

Well ya'll were right about the timing it drops down at WOT to around 25-26 degrees. I watched the KR and saw it go to about .9 but like your saying it very well could be the LTs hitting the car. I've already gone in and notched the K Member but it still hitting, I think were the header flange is for the exhaust to bolt up. I may have to have some profane motor mounts installed to elemenate that hitting the car. Does 25-26 degrees of timing sound correct?

i've been able to run 28-30, 28 is a good sweet spot for a clean motor, however as you said knock from headers can reduce your peak timing, esp if its causing the high/low timing table scaler to move towards the low.
alot of us run 28 peak, i have about 30 peak , but honestly alot of folks didn't realize any hp gain from 30 over 28 so i guess it would be a little safer.
best to fix your header problem, then clear out the vcm then see where you stand, if you add more timing in with KR then fix the KR problem you might end up with too much timing and KR from that.

So to figure out if my LT headers are causing the KR, you guys are saying to get a friend and 1 monitor the KR and the other kind of bang on the exhast a little do simulate the exhaust hitting the bottom of the car when I get on It? And if I see similar KR then it is most likely caused from the exhaust hitting?
