P0401 clean EGR, reset, then comes back
I have a 96 Plymouth Grand Voyager with 3.3L V6 and 102k miles. It posted P0401 code. I have cleaned all passages in the EGR and tube from exhaust manifold to EGR. I have put vacuum on the EGR valve and it holds, although I did take quite a bit of water out of the valve when I did this on a bench.
My dilema is that I cleaned the EGR, reset the code via battery cable removal and then after about 1.5 weeks the light comes back on. I drive the vehicle to and from work so it is started about 2-3 times a day.
Is there something in the computer that is counting how many times the vehicle is started before posting a code again? When the light does come back on, it is usually when I'm driving.
Is it time to just change the EGR valve or is there something else going on? I'm trying to sell the vehicle and am concerned that it may be in the solenoid or possibly the pressure transducer?
Any thoughts or insight is greatly appreciated.
