Opinion of Resistors
Hey all,
I was looking on ebay at the resistor "chips" that say they produce 20 HP more on the trans am. I read the sellers feedback and almost everyone was happy with the product. It was only 8 bucks! Do these really work and will they hurt the car?

lol... 20HP is a joke... and the people are happy with them because they don't realize they got ripped off
the Resistor "chips" are just that a 50 cent (prolly cheaper?) Reisistor.... it tricks the PCM into thinking the incoming air charge is like 42* F ... at this low temperature the PCM won't pull back any timing advance...
Problem is if it's hot out, the pull back in timing advance is meant to stop potential knock... well if it's hot and you're not letting the PCM do its thing... here comes the knock...
Also if it's cold out... the PCM wouldn't pull timing anyways...
Basically it's a scam by some deceitful people taking advantage of those who didn't bother researching anything...
Basically ... not worth it... and if you do really want to do this (I don't reccommend the resistor mod) i'm sure someone here knows what size resistor to get... and you can go to radio shack and buy one heh

lol yah, i double stack the tornadoes... That means DOUBLE TROUBLE when im racing anyone out there, UNSTOPABLE!!! the only thing that sucks is, all that vortex air going into my motor makes the two side wheels come off the ground, and i almost fliped it on its side a couple times... ,,, lol

The mod is called timing tricker. You just insert a resistor in place of the IAT sensor. The sensor is on the driver side near air lid. I used this for awhile before I started tuning. I actually had good results. I got good at it. Different ohms for different seasons. A 5.7k resistor was a good average one but I live in S. California. If you live where it's cold it won't do much good. I had a good power increase and better milage for 99 cents.
