Tuners?
Two things. What is torque management? And which tuner is the best and which one is the cheapest? Actually three. I was looking at EFI live and Autotap but the website is so confusing. If I order from them what all do I need, and if a friend of mine has already bought it and has some extra licenses what all do I need to tune my own car?
Thanks

AutoTap is not a tuner. EFILive has added tuning to their
scanner (new cable). HPTuners has both scanning / logging
and tuning capability, this is what I use. LS1-Edit has a
rudimentary scanner added to their tuning tool now. The
licensing schemes vary all over the place, I prefer the
one HPTuners uses, LS1-Edit's license blows dead rats,
EFILive's is ok for the one-car or few-car user but I see
it as too restrictive for me as I like to help people out
every once in a while and that would chew up the limited
license pack they allow. So I have added licenses to my
HPTuners cable rather than go for FlashScan.
Torque management is the PCM's application of timing retard
to cut torque, trying to protect the transmission during shifts
or just limit engine output (on drive-by-wire cars).
All of these questions have been discussed quite a bit right here,
"Search" is yer buddy.

So what is this http://www.autotap.com/efilive_products.html What is the bi-directional controls option? They just came out with some LS1/LS6 stuff. This stuff throws me for a loop. I really like the HPTuners website and their layout is easy to understand. I thought about getting a couple of guys together around here like the 00 to 02 crowd and go in on it together and one of us keep the cable. Which wouldn't be a problem for us since we all hang out together anyways. Basically you get a tune for like 100 bucks. But I don't know how well all this works so.
Thanks for the reply, I have done searches but the search engine on the site pulls a bunch of stuff that doesn't have anything to do with what I am looking for. Which mainly is opinions and experience.

That is what I figured. I think I am gonna go with HP tuners and get the extra car for 199 and that way I can have most of the years for F-bodies. I think I have enough friends that it would make it affordable for all of us.
