Default 99 to 02 pcm

Just wondering if this would work, I know that swaping a 99 pcm to a 02 pcm will make a world of diffrence. I work at a dealership and I have heard something about taking the program out of the 99 pcm and uploading a 02 program back into the 99. I'm not really good with the Tech2 but getting better with it. Just wondering if this would work or if any one has tried it.

you can't simply do that due to injector differences

^^^ yup, your 99 runs 26lb injectors but 02s run 28lb injectors so you can't just reflash... if you have a tuner package however you could do this and change the appropriate tables (I'm running a 2000 car w/the PCM that it came with, used HP Tuners to reflash my PCM to a 2002 and changed tables as appropriate... and I had alot more tables to change heh)

Also keep in mind the 2002 PCM is different than the 99-01 PCM; you can not interchange the flash between the 2.

so does that mean i can flash the 99 with 01 code? I would really like to have a full-resolution secondary VE table.

I'm running a 2002 OS (Flash) on my 2000 PCM ....

99-00 have 1 part number
01-02 have another part number

Both PCMs are similar enough to run any of the Operating system

umm..isn't VIN programmed into the PCM though? If I reflash my 99 with 01 code, is it gonna change the VIN number to look like it's 01?

yes the VIN will reflect an 01 but doesn't really matter... nothing in the car references the vin AFAIK

the car's PCM isn't a x86 based PC where there are x1000 motherboard manufaturers that release revisions every other month (I know what you're saying .. I know a few things about computers.... but it's not the same)

for emissions... I'll let you know at the end of march when I bring mine in... but emissions depends on the state...

the readiness codes checked are the same regardless of year car... they are OBDII checks... standardized (a 2000 honda has to pass the same tests as our cars)

Besides if you're paranoid about emissions ... flash the car back to the stock OS (if you have the capability .. w/HPT you can) and tune it to run and pass readiness tests....

AFAIK for my state... they plug in , and check if there's an SES set, and if the readiness tests are complete... for me .. i can fail 3 readiness tests.. and I'm within that range now...

you can use efi live v6 to change vins too. hp you can too, but be careful you must have support for both year vins

If i buy a car can a laptop and the Hp software be used to check if the pcm and vin of the car are still the same?

Are there any deeper memory levels like on Mercedes benz cars that will still keep / show up the old data! Are the guys at the smog station allowed to further search the CPU?

Can the Vin be deleted for all and overwritten with a new Vin or do i just change the yearcode from X for 99 to Y for 2000?

you can use efi live v6 to change vins too. hp you can too,
but be careful you must have support for both year vins....
.................................................. .......................is this also true for HP?

in the old GM ECM days you had a ECM number and a code
Example GTA 88 with 350 and 7ooR4

ECM Number 1227165
Code AKXZ 3294

looked up the Number on my OTC Book and the code on our GM Fbody Part book!Found out what emission and trans and ratio axle it was set up for

WHERE CAN I CRAB THAT INFO ON A LS1 CPU???????????????????????

I got a 98 LS1 CPU/Harness but would rather backoff the numbers before going to mess with the Harness/CPU......HDW No. 16220610 CWJP
