Default Chips/ECU upgrade 2002 camaro z28 m6

ive been looking around for a chip that i can put in my car, (02 Camaro Z28 M6)and i was wondering about several of them. I know slp makes a power tuning program that you plug into the diagnostic port and so does hypertech, but i was also wondering whether or not there are any chips that stay in the car that would help. Whatever gives me the most horsepower . Also ive been loooking on ebay for camaro stuff and i find a lot of stuff like this - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ViewItem&rd=1&item=7956449741&category=33598
i think that on another discription it said that it tells the computer that the air temperature is always 0.00 degrees, and i was wondering if that would mess up the car...
thanks a lot,
-walton

Here's a general guideline - if it's for the LS1 and the
person selling it calls it a "chip"... think cow chip.

You can read and write the entire PCM through the
OBDII port and program the hell out of it. But any
little one-trick gizmo is going to leave a lot on the table,
and work by lying to the computer. What did your mama
tell you about lies?

lol... I can't believe people still buy this crap... same results can be had at radio shack ... 50 cents for a bag of these chips aka resistor....

Doubtful you'll see any performance gain also... depends on wher eyou live (outside temperature) ... but whoever came up w/that 20hp number was smoking something illegal at the time

Don't even get me started on the hypercrap heh

then maybeyou can help me out on what i can do, for cheap, with hp gains, and things that are only visible to the trained eye...dad says not allowed to 'modify' the car...as far as he knows im not!

filter, air lid, Cold air (such as Fast Toys Ram Air), hidden dry nitrous kit , underpulley , gears, Suspension (you can have all the power in the world but if you can't plant it doesn't matter)

Vinci Performance has a nice handheld tuner, not sure on improvements w/a stock car though...

HP Tuners is an integrated scanner and PCM Tuner and is a very nice stand alone tuning package, but probably overkill for what you have planned at this time

M6 or A4? if A4 a mail order basic tune may help ... increase line pressure, up shifts a little...

You'll want to get bolt on items first, then worry about hte PCM though

when i track tested my 00 formula with the vinci tuner, all i had at the time was a slp airlid. i went from 13.63 to 13.43 on back to back runs at bradenton raceway. i used the hiperf/ stock cam and +10% timing.

just recently tuned the wife's car with it after installing the vinci ported 4.8L heads still with stock cam. i picked up 17/17 on the dyno. here's the graph:
