Converter unlocking question
#4
How did you disable miss fire detection? If it was not done properly, it could still be detecting miss fires and unlocking your converter. What converter do you have and at what rpms/MPH doe sthis happen? Also what is the TPS when this happens, and is it on uphills or steady driving?

He also says that sometimes when it unlocks the car free revvs not wanting to move under its own power unless a lot of gas is given usually taking the rpm above 4k. He also told me last night while going up a hill the verter unlocked and pretty much couldnt make it up the rest of the way under its own power...

May I recommend something ... if you can, ride along with him and lock the converter while he drives normally. This should rule out if the TCC is bad. It almost sounds as if it is not VCM related, does it set a miss fire DTC? With that converter, when unlocked it should still move pretty good, especially on up hills.

Well it seems to unlock randomly when using Tuners to lock it manually. LOL@my sentence. We tried checking the fluid but the B&M supercooler **** is light blue and ahrd to get a reading in the dark. I am stumped

A good way to check the fluid level is to use a white paper towel and lay the dipstick flat against the towel. Be careful not to smudge or wipe the dipstick with the towel. The fluid will leave a mark only where it touches the towel (will not 'run' from that area), and then verify where the level is in respect to the dipstick. If it is not the fluid, chances are it could either be the TCC solenoid is failing. It sounds like the programming is not the issue, but rather it is a mechanical/hydraulic problem. Worse case scenario is the TCC clutch is bad.
Are you using a B&M Super Cooler or the Trick Shift stuff ... or both? What year is the car? If using Trick Shift, was it the synthetic (silver bottle) or the regular (black bottle)? We do not recommend the regular Trick Shift in 4L60E transmissions.
