Default 98 computer question

I have a 98 TA A4 i've heard that the computer is diff than 99 ups. Will I still be able to do LS1 edit or other tuners? Is it just the pins that are different? Basically am I going to be limited in what I will be able to do computer wise?

Currently I believe HP Tuners and LS1 Edit are the only supporting 98s. You'll be able to edit everything fine, but won't be able to upgrade the OS to a 99-02 OS (really only useful for a speed density tune, 01/02 PCM OS's are a bit easier to dial in, but you can still do it on a 98)

From the EFILive web site it seems like FlashScan will soon support the 98 PCMs as well.

i have a 98 too, i ran edit (and still do underneath) but now is bs3 controlled.

the 98's typically have a knock sensor sensitivity issue that you will have to work on, and if you start flowing a lot of air you will hit the maf ceiling before you would on a 99+. if thats the case you should try an lt1 maf and maf scale.
