Default Problem VE tuning with vette..

I tried to setup the system to start tuning the VE table and once I load the program and unplug the MAF the car wants to throw a bunch of codes and goes into reduced power mode. I can start the car up with the MAF Plugged in and as soon as I unplug it the car goes crazy. What am I missing with the setup?

Don't unplug the MAF sensor, just set the MAF Fail Freq to 0. This will cause a p0103 DTC, but don't worry about it while VE tuning; It won't affect the tune. Some disable the DTC, but I like confirmation that the car is in SD mode.

Alright, set MAF fail to 0 and now I am getting the 0103 code. You can tell the car is running pig rich and needs to be leaned out very bad. The AFR's are ~11.0:1 across the board. Should the VE numbers go up or down to lean the car out?

Higher VE values add fuel (telling the PCM you have more useable oxygen in the cylinder)
Lower VE values subtract fuel (telling the PCM you have less useable oxygen in the cylinder)

Are you using a wideband? What do your fuel trims look like?

PM sent. What you are seeing is normal of the car running in SD mode for the first time
