Default PCM swap

I have a 98 LS1 motor and wiring harness for a M6 that i will be putting in a 69 GMC truck. I will be swapping to an A4.

I understand I can just add the A4 wiring harness, but I want to be able to use an 01 computer. The 98 and 01 injectors are the same (right??) so that shouldn't be an issue.
But can I just plug the 01 computer into the 98 harness and add the A4 section to the 98 harness and be done?
I have tuning for an 01 but not a 98.

Thanks

this is for a project truck, so I don't care about the dash and whatnot. I just want the motor to run.

Call Speartech and talk to John. He might be able to convert it. The connectors (and I think a few of the sensors) are different so it will probably be easier and cheaper to just sell the '98 harness and get a '99+ to go with the later PCM. I bought my '00 harness and PCM together for under $300 in the For Sale section, so they are out there.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to give John a call.
You are probably right, it would be easier to get a 01 auto harness and computer and be done.
