Need VSS??
I've swapped a 1995 LT1 and a GM T5 into a Datsun 240Z.
The T5 tranny doesn't have a vehicle speed sensor (VSS) and I'm using the stock Datsun mechanical speedo. I've heard it's possible to eliminate the requirement for the VSS in the PCM but that it might cause some problems with stalling during coast down and other things.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Any reccomendations for a VSS that runs off the mechanical speedo drive cable?
I have TunerCat so I can edit the PCM but I'm not sure exactly what entries to change and to what values.
BTW: I've also eliminated all the emissions equipment, A/C and powersteering and installed an LT4 hot cam. The engine was pulled from a Caprice cop car so it has the iron heads. I have a bin file from a 94 Camaro with the manual transmission to use as a starting point.
