Default tranny shifting hard in SD mode

Tried searching and didn't come up with much.
I set my MAF fail frequency to "0" to enter SD mode and reset my fuel trims so I can start logging for my attempt at tuning the VE tables. I got the p0103 code which is supposed to happen, but now my tranny goes into gear pretty hard and it shifts extremely hard under part throttle. Shifting at 4krpm under 50% throttle breaks the back end loose. Any idea what's happening here?...and am I hurting anything?
Also the car absolutely will not idle in gear in SD mode, anyone else have that problem? Thanks for your help guys!!! Using HPTuner, btw.

In SD mode with fail frequency at 0 the trans reverts to max pressure all the time. It makes for a fun drive while VE tuning. You could lower your max line pressure while tuning but I left mine alone.

Thanks for the help. So with every shift using max line pressure, am I hurting anything? I'm sure it'll take me awhile to dial in the VE table so I don't know how long I'll have to drive in SD mode. It sure is fun as hell driving though!

That must be one of those '98 things, right? Mine doesn't do it and I'd be freakin' if it did. That puts extra, unnecessary strain on the tranny and drivetrain.

Good point...it is nice knowing the actual water temp without looking over at the laptop. I'm sure that even that nice auburn posi is going to grenade anyway (hopefully not for awhile...i can't afford a 12bolt yet)
