i am thinking about putting the IAT into the pipe that is where the MAF used to be. if i do this, would it really help out the readings and give it better output in SD? i blocked the airbox off so it doesnt suck in any air from the rad, well not as much as it used to, just dont know how mcuh of a diff it would make?

Being in the concentrated air stream will make it read
truer, quicker than mounted on a heat-soaked airbox
lid in a back corner.

Whether that has a significant effect on speed density
tuning however, I couldn't say. Other than that 55F
would be about a 10% air density error factor.

I think mounted in the intake manifold neck might be
even better, as long as the grommet holds a seal
against hard vacuum.

The Delphi 85mm MAFs of course have them built in.
You could go and port one into a plastic pipe with
thermistor. Then go show people your bitchin' ported
MAF and muss up their minds.
