Swapping a 1998 Trans am to a 1999 motor
I currently have a 1998 Trans am with the mods in the sig and currently has 91K on the clock. I am about to get a 1999 Motor with 25K miles for dirt cheap. I am wondering if all the wiring to the motor is all the same. I know the 98's have a different computer but are the connections to the motor all the same? I am just wondering if its going to be a straight swap or if I will need a new wiring harness or something.

also some of the items in your gauge cluster (such as fuel level and temp?) may not work w/the conversion ... may be better off putting the 98 sensors in the 99 motor and stay running your 98 PCM

I would like to stick with the 98 computer since it would save a lot of hassle. If I stick with my computer what would be needed? Just reuse some sensors from my 98? I could probably get the 99 computer for next to nothing to If that would be easier. My friend works at a salvage yard and they just got a totalled 99 thats why I am getting such a deal.

Install the 1998 injectors, and be done.

i had a 98 motor and I hooked up a 2000 harness and PCM to it and the stock sensors and the motor ran great. All I had to swap out was the ECT sensor to complete the swap. I double checked all the sensor PNs and the were the same except the ECT.
