What's the proper way to get into SD mode?
I have decided that I want to try and SD tune my 2001 Camaro SS M6 using a WB02.
I've read a lot about how to get "into" SD mode on LS1tech.com and the HP Tuners board, but it seems there is a little confusion on what way to do it. Some people say set it up this way, others say do it this way.
What is the "Proper" way to get into SD mode?
- Do I set MAF fail freq to 0?
- Set all Open Loop to 1.13?
- Set PE to 1.000?
I plan on unplugging my MAF for SD tuning.

If you just want speed density, you can either unplug your MAF or set the fail freq. to zero. Some have reported setting the fail freq. to zero may take a little longer to ensure SD. As for myself in EFILive, there's a high fail freq. and a low fail freq. I take the values in both of those cells and swap them so the high fails above 1300Hz and the low fails below 13500Hz.
When you go to tune, yes you should turn off PE and set your open loop table to a constant like 1.13~1.17 as long as you have a wideband to verify your AFR. But that is open loop, which has nothing to do with SD. SD is simply the way a motor calculates fueling without a MAF sensor.

You can turn off the MIL for P0101, P0102, & P0103 - all these relate to MAF MIL's.
Unless you want to be in Open Loop, you shouldn't mess with the O2 sensor inputs.
Take a look at this link. The document is written for EFILive Flashscan, but has good information that might help you.
Section "C" has all the changes you need to do to get into OL SD.

Here is my foolproof way to get into SD mode:
1. Set MAF Fail Freq to 0
2. For DTCs P0101, P0102, and P0103, set it to "Report on First Error"...now, you can even toggle the button for "SES Off", but as long as you don't select the third option (which is "No Error Reported"), it will still set the codes. If you only set the "No MIL Light" without turning the SES to OFF, your car will still set the "Service Vehicle" light.
3. 0 out the entire MAF table. As soon as you start the car, it will stumble around during the first 5 seconds of running...just make sure you give it a little gas, it will burp, and set the code and be in SD. If it the MAF table means nothing at all to the computer, it can't do anything with it, now can it? No guess work with this method...

BEN Base Efficiency Numerator is the "AutoTune" feature in EFI Live. It provides you with a correction factor for your VE table so you don't have to calculate one for each cell. It takes the actual AFR and divides it by the commanded AFR to give you a factor (i.e. rich condition ~ 13AFR commanded, 12.8AFR recorded, correction=.9846). It saves time and helps those who aren't too good with Excel.
