view past codes?

view past codes? Is there a way to view codes that have been thrown in the past, but not current? My friend's car keeps having the light come on and off every few cycles, and when I went to log, no codes came up(I was in when the light didn't come on.)
Also, whats the difference between "old" and "immature" codes?
