Default Can a 98 be tuned?

I have seen many gripes about not being able to tune a 98? Is this true? And if this is the case, I am sure I can swap a computer and harness from a 99 and up car, but would there be problems?

the 98 PCM is different' from the rest of the F-Bodies ... so they are often the last chosen for tuning softwarez/hardwarez.....

LS1 Edit and HP Tuners both support 98s .... of those HP Tuners (www.hptuners.com) is the only one I'd suggest.....

of the handhelds I'm not sure... i know the crane/vinci tuner doesn't support 98s... and the Predators don't... not sure of the HPP3s..... but if an HPP3 supported 98s.... it's not worth buying unless you can get used for under 100 bux and guarantee it will work w/your car....

as for swapping... a search of this forum would be helpful for ya....

is it possible: Yes ... but seems it's not very economical and not many have done so.....

some of the sensors on 98s are different ... and to swap the harness is a big job.... (unless it's a gutted car)

your best bet is HP Tuners (they've had scanning and tuning support for 98s for over a year now)

I have no problems tuning my 98 with HP Tuners. I highly recommend them.
